Program Engagement and Support Specialist

The duties of a Program Engagement and Support Specialist can be split into two categories.  Programming and Support.

For the program engagement part, each member has a slightly different focus based on their own areas of expertise or interest.  As a PESS, one will work with the Youth Programs Director to define their specific brand of specialist.  After that, the PESS is responsible for writing and implementing curriculum within their specialization for children of a variety of ages.  Program planning support is given as much as is needed with the expectation that the PESS will slowly become more autonomous and effective when planning programs as they continue through the position.

The other part of PESS is the support specialist.  Members will be trained so that they can offer support to experienced teachers or group leaders.  This generally includes but is not limited to: soothing overstimulated children or being an extra set of eyes so the lead staff person can attend to the child in need, assisting with and tracking sanitization aspects of different classroom areas, and supporting/facilitating the transition of children from one area to another.  Members will also support the administrative team with community engagement (newsletters/emails and special events), strategic planning, and licensing compliance data tracking.
