AmeriCorps: Aquatics Special Programs Assistant

 

Reports To:  Aquatics Director

Department:  Aquatics

 

Job Summary: The Aquatics Special Programs Assistant is responsible for assisting in and leading engaging and developmentally appropriate aquatics experiences for the children in their care. The ASPA will assist in leading swim lessons, swim team trainings, Camp Ruach swim tutoring, as well as other specialty aquatics programs aimed at providing each child with the highest level of individualized care possible and the greatest opportunity for physical, social, emotional, and cognitive growth

 

Principal Responsibilities:  

 

Instruction

  • Assist life guards and swim instructors with supervision and engagement

  • Foster strong community by helping children develop empathy and conflict resolution skills 

  • Run specialty swim programs

 

Professional Growth & Responsibility

  • Participate in JCC all staff meetings, Youth Programs meetings, and supervisions with Youth Programs Director

 

 

Qualifications:

 

Education:

  • High school diploma

Certifications:

  • Adult and Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification (training provided within 90 days of employment)

 

Additional:

  • Must be at least 18 years old

  • Ability to comply with all regulatory policies and procedures

  • Must pass a drug screening
